The Cleveland Guardians have had to look near and far for help since the trade deadline passed on August 1. The roster has been hit hard with injuries to just about everywhere on the roster.

This includes behind the plate with Cam Gallagher recently heading to the injured list with a concussion. Cleveland decided to select the contract of Zack Collins to take over the backup catcher duties behind Bo Naylor while Gallagher gets healthy.

Collins was a first-round pick in 2016 to the Chicago White Sox, but never panned out in the Windy City. He's spent time in both Toronto and Pittsburg before rediscovering himself in Cleveland's farm system.

The 28-year-old has hit .255 and an OPS of .801 in 109 games with the Columbus Clippers this season. This continued

Zack ripped a four-seam fastball from Joey Wentz right back up the middle during his first at-bat with Cleveland to give him his first Guardians hit. It had an exit velocity of 95.2 and an xBA of .860.

The Guardians have looked at more offensive production from the catchers all season. Collins could make a strong case he deserves to stay with the Big League club with a strong week.
