Shohei Ohtani ended a frenzied free agency by signing a 10-year, $700 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers that seemingly wound up playing a key role in their pursuit of Yoshinobu Yamamoto as well.

Both Japanese natives were highly sought after, but the addition of Ohtani was truly a landmark signing for the Dodgers. He’s easily the best player in baseball as a two-way star and cultural phenomenon.

Ohtani signing with the Dodgers was celebrated by a press conference watched all over the world, new bobbleheads and in what has become a Los Angeles tradition, murals.

Ohtani was the subject of murals painted by artists Gustavo Zermeño Jr. and Jonas Never.

Never’s work also includes paintings of Jackie Robinson, Kobe Bryant and multiple Dodger Stadium murals, among other artwork.

Oceanview Liquor: 3232 Manhattan Ave., Hermosa Beach, CA 90254

The Ohtani mural at Oceanview Liquor in Hermosa Beach is a shared project created by Zermeño. Alongside one side of the wall of the shop is shared space to celebrate the Los Angeles Kings and Dodgers.

Several Kings players live in Hermosa Beach, and Zermeño paid tribute to Drew Doughty and Dustin Brown. They are paired with Ohtani and Mookie Betts representing the Dodgers.

Also featured on the blue wall is the signature Dodgers logo with the trademark baseball flying.
