The Chicago White Sox acquired right-handed reliever Gregory Santos from the San Francisco Giants on Thursday.

Minor league right-hander Kade McClure is heading to the Giants in exchange.

San Francisco designated Santos for assignment on Dec. 20.

Santos, 23, made five relief appearances with the Giants over the past two seasons, going 0-2 with an 11.12 ERA. He gave up eight runs (seven earned) in 5 2/3 innings.

In 2022 at Triple-A Sacramento, Santos pitched 33 innings in 33 games and was 1-2 with a 4.91 ERA and one save. He walked 20 and struck out 34.

The White Sox picked McClure, 26, in the sixth round of the 2017 draft. In 44 games (five starts) at Triple-A Charlotte in 2022, McClure posted a 4-4 record with a 4.97 ERA and one save. He struck out 96 batters over 87 innings.
