The Chicago White Sox shuffled a pair of bullpen arms ahead of their series opener against the Los Angeles Angels. On Friday afternoon, the club reinstated right-hander Ryan Burr from the injured list and optioned Kyle Crick to Triple-A Charlotte.
Burr began the season on the injured list due to a right shoulder strain. Now through with his rehab assignment in Charlotte, he will rejoin the big-league club. In 2021, Burr posted a 2.45 ERA, 4.23 FIP, 1.336 WHIP, and 9.2 K/9 rate across 36.2 innings.
Crick has endured a rough start to the 2022 campaign. In six innings pitched, he has struggled with his command, resulting in a 6.00 ERA, 5.90 FIP, 2.000 WHIP, and 10.5 BB/9 rate.
The Chicago White Sox hope this swap will be beneficial for both right-handed relievers. Ryan Burr will get a chance to build on a positive bounce-back post-Tommy John 2021 campaign. Meanwhile, Kyle Crick will have an opportunity to work on his control with the Triple-A club to build toward a call-up to the big-league club later in the season.
