Yankees' Aaron Judge hits 60th home run, jumpstarts thrilling comeback

Yankees slugger Aaron Judge further etched himself in the history books on Tuesday night, hitting his 60th home run of the season in a comeback win over the Pirates.

Judge's milestone home run came in his fifth and final plate appearance in what turned into a 9-8 win for the Yankees. His blast cut the deficit to three runs, and Giancarlo Stanton would ultimately drill a walk-off grand slam to complete a magical ninth inning at Yankee Stadium.

Judge is only the sixth player to hit 60 home runs in a season and the first since 2001. Three who have reached the milestone — Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa — admitted to using steroids at the peaks of their careers. After that trio, you'd have to go all the way back to 1961, when Roger Maris hit 61 for the Yankees.

Judge can now turn his attention to Maris' American League record of 61 home runs, which is also the most hit in a season by a player who has not admitted to using steroids.

The Yankees still have 15 games left on their schedule, putting Judge on pace for 66 home runs.
