The MLB rumor mill always brings us surprising scenarios and possibilities, especially when it comes to trades.

The New York Yankees are continually linked to several star players every offseason, and that doesn’t mean they will land them all.

In the last couple of days, rumor has it that the Bombers are interested in San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr.

A Yankees analyst, however, shot down the rumors and implied there is no chance the Yankees get the controversial star.

“I’ve heard from well placed source that there’s ‘zero, absolutely nothing’ on the Fernando Tatis Jr./Yankees front. Not discrediting anyone, different people hear different things. But I trust what I’m hearing,” Dan Federico tweeted.

After the events of this past year, the Padres are definitely not entirely happy with Tatis.

The Padres Are Probably Not Going To Move A Game-Changing Talent

He injured his wrist on a motorcycle accident during the lockout, and he tested positive for a performance-enhancing drug in March, with the news being revealed in the summer when he was about to return from the wrist ailment.

Those things, however, are not going to make the Padres trade their best player, especially after they committed to him on a 14-year,, $338 million contract until 2034.

It’s highly unlikely that Tatis is moved when he is such a dynamic talent when healthy.

He will miss a few weeks of the 2023 regular season and will have to show he is fully recovered from wrist and shoulder surgeries, but if 100 percent healthy, Tatis has the potential to go 40-40 with a boatload of runs and RBI.

He is ticketed to the outfield after the Padres signed shortstop Xander Bogaerts to a long-term deal, and should remain there for the rest of his career.
