Giancarlo Stanton homered in his first career at-bat with the New York Yankees, lining a rocket out to right field against the Toronto Blue Jays to put his team up 2-0 in the first on Thursday. Of course, Stanton homering in his first at-bat in pinstripes means there was no time wasted in learning what John Sterling’s home run call for him would be.

Sterling, the longtime radio voice of the Yankees, has a unique home run call for each member of the team. Fans were eagerly awaiting Stanton’s call, and we soon found out what it is. Take a listen here:

As SI’s Jimmy Traina pointed out, the call is in Italian and is “Giancarlo, non si pue de parlo.”

The phrase rhymes and, according to Google Translate, means “you can not speak of it.”

Whether they like it or not, fans better get used to the call because they should be hearing it plenty. And another cool note about the homer – MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch says Stanton’s dinger was the hardest ever recorded opposite field home run by Statcast.
