The New York Yankees have been bitten by the injury bug in a major way this season.

New York hasn't had the campaign it expected to have this season and one of the biggest reasons why certainly has been injuries. The Yankees' starting rotation seemingly has never been healthy at the same time and the starting lineup also hasn't looked as expected. Injuries continue to pile up for the Yankees and the latest player who possibly could land on the injured list is young outfielder Everson Pereira, according to the SNY Newsdesk.

"Outfielder Everson Pereira hasn't played since Sept. 14 against the Red Sox, and we now know why. Manager Aaron Boone, appearing on his weekly spot on the "Talkin' Yanks Podcast," explained that the 22-year-old is dealing with a hamstring injury, and an IL stint is a possibility.

“He’s got a little hamstring going on," said Boone. "Very low-grade, so we’re kind of in that boat now or do we give it a couple more days, do we back-date and do a quick IL stint? Because we do think he’s going to play again this season, but I don’t know if it’s two days from now, tomorrow, or five days from now.”

Although it seems like Pereira will return to the field at some point, New York has just 12 games left this season and is running out of time. Pereira is dealing with a hamstring injury but it's positive that Boone seemed like he expects the youngster to return. More information likely will come out in the next few days, hopefully the club gives a positive update on the young outfielder.
