Yankees' Domingo German to address teammates about domestic violence suspension
New York Yankees pitcher Domingo German will return to the lineup this season after serving an 81-game domestic violence suspension.
Yankees reliever Zack Britton admitted earlier this week that he was uncomfortable with German's presence at spring training. The Dominican is now expected to address his suspension with his teammates before the season.
In September 2019, German allegedly slapped his girlfriend at a charity gala organized by C.C. Sabathia, according to The Athletic's Lindsey Adler. Later that evening, German reportedly became physically violent toward his girlfriend until she hid in a locked room at his home.
The incident was not reported to law enforcement. However, Major League Baseball conducted an internal investigation and found the right-hander guilty. He missed 18 games during the 2019 campaign and served the remainder of the suspension in 2020.
