The New York Yankees experienced a huge bounce-back in MLB Pipeline’s farm system rankings, resulting in their highest overall ranking since 2022.
The Yankees’ system was ranked No. 21 in last year’s midseason rankings. After an offseason of big shakeups across baseball, the Yankees moved up to No. 11.
That’s their highest ranking since being ranked No. 12 in the 2022 midseason rankings. In the 2022 preseason and 2023 preseason rankings the Yankees were ranked No. 13.
MLB Pipeline wrote that the Yankees have built their burgeoning system on analytics and the process is starting to pay off. One of the most recent examples is shortstop Anthony Volpe, who became the first Yankees rookie to win a Gold Glove and had a 20/20 season in 2023.
In addition, the Yankees called up outfielder Jasson Domínguez, who homered in four of his eight games before blowing out his elbow. Another top prospect, Austin Wells, should make the team as a catcher and could eventually supplant Jose Trevino.
Domínguez remained the Yankees’ top prospect at No. 41 overall, as he doesn’t yet have the service time to graduate. He is expected to play sometime this season.
Other Top 100 Yankees included outfielder Spencer Jones (No. 84) shortstop Roderick Arias and (No. 86) pitcher Chase Hampton (No. 92).
Hampton, who played his college baseball at Texas Tech, was one of the fastest risers in the organization, as he went from being ranked No. 26 last preseason to No. 4 in the system. He could help the Yankees sometime this season.
The Yankees are a pitching-rich organization now, with 13 pitchers in their Top 30 and 10 of them throwing from the right side of the plate. Along with Hampton, there is Will Warren (No. 8), Henry Lalane (No. 9), Brock Selvidge (No. 11), Kyle Carr (No. 12), Clayton Beeter (No. 14), Carlos Lagrange (No. 17), Yoendrys Gómez (No. 18), Zach Messinger (No. 23), Trystan Vrieling (No. 24), Cade Smith (No. 25), Jack Neely (No. 26) and Danny Watson (No. 30).
The other position players in the Top 30 are outfielder Everson Pereira (No. 6), shortstop George Lombard Jr. (No. 7), outfielder Brando Mayea (No. 10), catcher/first baseman Ben Rice (No. 13), outfielder Francisco Vilorio (No. 15), infielder Jorbit Vivas (No. 16), second baseman Roc Riggio (No. 19), infielder Jared Serna (No. 20), infielder Keiner Delgado (No. 21), catcher Agustin Ramirez (No. 22), third baseman Tyler Hardman (No. 27), outfielder John Cruz (No. 28) and outfielder Anthony Hall (No. 29).
