Jasson Dominguez, the New York Yankees' top prospect, apparently has "out of this world" healing.

Back in February, the 21-year-old center fielder was shagging balls in the outfield, and would soon be playing catch; mere days after that report, Dominguez had hitting drills scheduled and was now on pace to begin playing extended spring training games in April.

Fast forward to March, and YES Network studio analyst Jack Curry provided the most encouraging update on Dominguez yet.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that Dominguez's throwing program has progressed to throwing from 75 feet. Beat writer Bryan Hoch also provided a video of Dominguez throwing on Wednesday, two days prior to Curry's report.

The biggest update, though, is that Dominguez will be cleared to hit from both the left and right sides of the plate on Monday, another monumental step in his recovery.

Dominguez has been hitting from the right side for two weeks; Monday will see him start swinging from the left side, which is his "power side".

The Dominican prodigy was placed on the 60-day injured list on February 14, albeit as a corresponding move to put reliever Lou Trivino on the 40-man roster (Trivino has since joined Dominguez on the 60-day IL). Before these updates, Dominguez was expected to begin playing rehab games by late April or early May, with a potential return to the big leagues in June or July.

With this new information, the timeline may be further accelerated and Dominguez may be on pace to start playing the rehab games earlier in April, while coming to the Bronx before the All-Star break.

Even with these rapid developments, the Yankees don't want to rush Dominguez back as he is still a developing prospect; four days ago, he was ranked as the Yankees' number one prospect on their 2024 Top 30 Prospects list, and was ranked as the 41st best prospect in MLB. But after taking the baseball world by storm in just eight games in 2023, the Yankees and their fans are eager for the Martian's return.
