Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton may miss 3-4 weeks with hamstring strain

On Tuesday, New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed that slugger Giancarlo Stanton has been diagnosed with a Grade 1 hamstring strain and is likely to miss three to four weeks of action.

Stanton suffered the setback during the second game of a Saturday doubleheader versus the Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees placed the 30-year-old on the injured list on Sunday.

“I’m hurting for him,” Boone explained to reporters on Tuesday, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. “I know what he's done to be here. His play speaks for itself. Hopefully it's something that doesn't end up keeping him down too long.”

Stanton missed all but 18 regular-season games during the 2019 campaign due to multiple injury setbacks. In his first 14 games of the current season, Stanton hit .293 with three home runs and seven RBI.

The Yankees recalled outfielder Clint Frazier ahead of Tuesday's outing against the Atlanta Braves.
