New York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said this week that he envisions Aaron Boone in the managerial role with the team for another decade.

Cashman has enjoyed a remarkably stable run with managers over the years, and with the team exercising the team option on the Boone’s original three-year contract, that trend is expected to continue at least in the short term.

The longtime Yankees boss discussed his positive working relationships with managers while rappelling down a building as part of his annual charity daredevil act.

“I’ve had three managers,” the Yankees’ general manager said, on the Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” while rappelling down the Landmark Building in Stamford, Conn alongside Boone and FNC’s Will Cain, per the New York Post. “Ten (years) with Joe Torre, 10 with (Joe) Girardi and hopefully 10 more with Boone.”

Boone has led the Yankees to a 236-148 regular-season record, but a team that boasts World Series aspirations every year has come up short in that regard during his tenure.

That doesn’t appear to have swayed Cashman’s longstanding public support for Boone, however. That said, it cannot be understated that a high-stakes, high-expectation job like serving as manager of the Yankees — and managing to remain in that position — comes with its own set of inherent risks, so circumstances can of course quickly change.

What’s more, serving in said capacity for such a storied franchise probably can be as stomach-churning and pressure-packed as rappelling down a 22-story building. Perhaps Boone should ask Cashman about just that.
