The boss has spoken.

In an interview with The Michael Kay Show on Wednesday, New York Yankees managing partner Hal Steinbrenner answered a number of questions surrounding the state of the team.

Since superstar outfielder Aaron Judge was placed on the injured list three weeks ago, the Yankees haven't hit. This led to Steinbrenner being asked if hitting coach Dillon Lawson is on the hot seat.

"Nobody is on the hot seat right now," Steinbrenner said. "Let's get through the season; let's see what happens.

"There's no way that (Giancarlo) Stanton and (Anthony) Rizzo aren't going to start hitting, and the others as well I'm sure."

Steinbrenner went on to praise the contributions the Yankees have received from unlikely players such as Jake Bauers.

"I think we're going to be fine; I believe we're going to be fine. People can call me delusional for saying that, but these guys are just too good." Steinbrenner said.

"I saw what we could do those two or so weeks in May when Judge came back from injury. We can be a force."

That being said, Steinbrenner was clear that if the Yankees make the playoffs and don't perform, or miss the postseason entirely, he's going to start asking some very tough questions.

"If we can march into the playoffs with 90% of our expected team, and we don't perform well in the playoffs, I'm going to be asking questions even then.

"But if we don't make the playoffs and we're healthy the second half of the year, then I'm going to be asking some real tough questions."

The Yankees entered play on Wednesday night with a 40-33 record. However, they're in third place in the American League East and 10 games back of the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Yankees' offense has been anemic since Judge went down, and there is currently no timetable for his return.
