There have been a ton of New York Yankees players inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum over the years.
As the winningest franchise of all time, it makes sense that so many have been enshrined in baseball history.
One of the Yankees' former greats, CC Sabathia, said he never thought about such an honor when he was competing, but after visiting Cooperstown with his son a few years ago, he wants to be inducted.
"That was the first time I really, really, really thought about it. I was like, 'Damn, I really want to be in the Hall of Fame.' I never thought about being in the Hall of Fame when I was playing. But going up there, it's like, 'Oh yeah, this is cool,'" he said according to Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY.
Sabathia certainly put together a great career.
He played 19 years in the bigs, winning the AL Cy Young award in 2007, the ALCS MVP in 2009, the World Series with New York that same year, and was selected to six All-Star Games.
The big lefty started 560 games and recorded 251 wins. He finished with an ERA of 3.74 and over 3,000 strikeouts.
Sabathia was an integral part of the last Yankees' World Series winning team after he signed a seven-year, $161 million contract with them in free agency.
That year, his 19 wins were tied for the most in baseball.
He took his game to the next level in the playoffs.
In five postseason starts, Sabathia went 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA across 36 1/3 innings pitched.
He continued to dominant with New York the next few years, recording 14-plus wins in four consecutive seasons, finishing top-four in AL Cy Young voting in 2010 and 2011, and was selected to three All-Star Games from 2010-12.
There's no doubt the left-hander is one of the Yankees' greats.
It will be up to voters when he hits the ballots for the first time next year to decide if he's one of the game's greatest players and has a place in Cooperstown.
