Yankees make small change to road uniforms

The New York Yankees change their uniforms infrequently, if at all. However, they will be making a small tweak to their road jerseys for the 2024 season.

According to Paul Lukas at Uni-Watch.com, the Yankees are making a small change. The white trim around the letters and the trim at the end of the sleeves are gone. The road uniforms will simply be gray with blue numbers.

This change could be considered a throwback look. The Yankees' road jerseys were plain gray until they moved away from the flannel uniforms in 1973. The trim was added to both the sleeves and numbers at that point, making their jerseys more modern.

Those small tweaks to the road jerseys may be the only uniform changes the Yankees make for some time. They remain one of the few teams not to have a City Connect jersey and do not have any plans for one. Their look is timeless and iconic, one of the instances where perfection has been achieved.

Those gray uniforms may remain for some time. As Lukas noted, the last change came in 2016 when the space in New York was decreased. Any other changes would be in the same vein — minor tweaks to adjust the look.

Sometimes, simplicity is the key. There are iconic looks that never go out of style. The Yankees have realized this for decades, keeping their iconic look.

Maybe a small tweak or two will be made every so often but there is no need to ruin perfection. It may be the last change they make for a long time to come.
