The New York Yankees are in an intriguing spot.

New York certainly should be considered one of the top teams in the American League right now but there still is work to be done.

The biggest hole on the roster right now without a doubt is in the bullpen. New York has been linked to a handful of hurlers but hasn't solidified the bullpen to this point.

It sounds like at least one or two moves are coming and one that could be on the way is a reunion with reliever Keynan Middleton, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"The Yankees, currently focused on bullpen pieces, have talked to Héctor Neris, Phil Maton, Ryan Brasier, and Wandy Peralta," Heyman said. "But they are alleged to be making low offers, perhaps due to the calendar or a supply-demand perception. As YES’ Jack Curry said, they could instead bring back Keynan Middleton instead. He’d cost less."

Middleton was acquired by the Yankees during the 2023 campaign in a trade with the Chicago White Sox. He made just 12 appearances with New York last season but he made a large impact.

The 30-year-old logged a 1.88 ERA in 12 appearances with the Yankees last season and had a 17-to-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 14 1/3 innings pitched.

There have been rumblings that a reunion could be on the horizon and it certainly makes sense from the Yankees' perspective. New York had the best bullpen in baseball last season. Why not bring back one of the club's top arms from down the stretch of the season?
