The New York Yankees signed right-hander Lou Trivino to a one-year contract for the 2024 season with a club option for 2025.

Reports pegged the deal at $1.5 million for the upcoming season and $5 million for 2025.

Trivino, 32, is not expected to start the season with the Yankees. He missed the 2023 season after being diagnosed with a right elbow strain during spring training and undergoing Tommy John surgery on May 3, 2023.

In 2022, Trivino was 1-2 with a 1.66 ERA and one save in 25 appearances after being acquired from the Oakland Athletics in a six-player deal at the trade deadline.

He became a free agent following the 2023 season.

Trivino is 21-25 with a 3.86 ERA and 37 saves in 285 appearances (one start) over his career with the A's (2018-22) and Yankees (2022).

In a corresponding move, the Yankees moved outfielder Jasson Dominguez to the 60-day injured list as he recovers from Tommy John surgery. A top Yankees prospect, Dominguez, 21, made his major league debut on Sept. 1, 2023, and hit a home run in his first at-bat against Justin Verlander of the Houston Astros.

He appeared in eight games before the surgery, batting .258 with four homers and seven RBIs in 31 at-bats.

Dominguez is expected to return to play around the All-Star break.
