Brian Cashman of the New York Yankees gave a promising update on where first baseman Anthony Rizzo currently stands. The slugging first baseman missed most of the 2023 season after dealing with post-concussion symptoms. When he was dealing with these symptoms, Rizzo was one of the worst players in baseball.

It was obvious that something was wrong but unfortunately, the Yankees didn't react quickly enough. It caused an uproar around the league and was the topic of conversation for plenty of New York's season.

However, that's all behind them, and according to Cashman, Rizzo is healthy.

According to Brendan Kuty of The Athletic, Cashman said that doctors have cleared Rizzo to work out and play.

The GM added that Rizzo feels great and the doctors have told them he's clear of the post-concussion symptoms that gave him so much trouble.

Rizzo is a huge addition to a lineup that could be one of the best in baseball, depending on health.

For whatever the reason might be, the lefty slugger seems to be forgotten this offseason. It's almost like people forget that he put up 32 home runs in the one full season he played with the Yankees in 2022.

Rizzo also started last season as one of the better players on the team.

If it wasn't for that concussion, the discourse around him heading into 2024 would be much different. The concerns with the concussion are certainly warranted, but it does feel like the 34-year-old isn't getting enough respect this offseason.

Given the severity of any brain injury, Rizzo could struggle when he does get back on the field. As long as he gets up to speed sooner rather than later, he adds another threat to this lineup.
