The New York Yankees could be without another outfielder/slugging type for the next few weeks.

On Wednesday night during a 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins, outfielder Willie Calhoun suffered an injury that could keep him out for a significant amount of time.

During the eighth inning of Wednesday's game, Calhoun pulled his left quad while trying to beat out a throw to first base from a grounder to third.

It's the same quad he has injured before.

After the game, Calhoun was candid on the situation regarding the injury.

“I know for sure I can’t do too much right now,” Calhoun said. “I won’t be able to run it all on my left leg. It’s doesn’t feel too great right now.”

Calhoun has had a tough time staying healthy. From being hit in the face in 2020 during spring training that broke his jaw while with the Texas Rangers, to hurting this same quad in 2019 and a fractured forearm in 2021, it's been a tough road for Calhoun.

Now he is on the injured list once again.

Calhoun needed a change of scenery while with the Rangers, presumably due to his lack of MLB opportunity because of his injury history. He brought an attitude that wasn't conducive to the Rangers' success.

Now, it appears that same bad injury luck has followed him to New York, How he bounces back will be telling.

“It is frustrating,” Calhoun said. “I’m going to do everything I can to try to get back as fast as I can and help the team.”

Calhoun has ingrained himself as a integral part of this team in providing good at-bats that are coupled with power. He is a cog of this Yankees offense. Hopefully it's a quick road back.
