The New York Yankees are signing free agent infielder Kevin Smith.

Smith announced his next team on social media by posting a photo of himself as a Little League player in a Yankees uniform. "Headed Home for 2024," wrote the native of East Greenbush, N.Y.

The New York Post confirmed Smith and the Yankees had agreed to a deal.

Smith, 27, has spent parts of three major league seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays (2021) and Oakland Athletics (2022-23). In 49 games for the A's in 2023, Smith batted .185 with five homers, four doubles and 11 RBIs.

In 222 games at the Triple-A level across three seasons, Smith has batted .286 with 50 homers, 51 doubles and 164 RBIs.

Smith has played mostly third base and shortstop during his time in the majors.
