Along with free agents from their Major League roster, the Los Angeles Dodgers also saw the likes of Yonny Hernández, Ricky Vanasco and more Minor Leaguers reach the open market as well once the 2023 season concluded.

Vanasco was re-signed to a Major League contract, and the Dodgers also added Eduardo Salazar after he elected free agency from the Texas Rangers. Unlike Vanasco, Salazar was signed to a Minor League deal and is not on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster.

Meanwhile, the team appears to have lost Hernández in free agency after he spent just one year with the Dodgers organization.

According to Robert Murray of FanSided, the Milwaukee Brewers signed Hernández to a Minor League contract that includes a non-roster invite to 2024 Spring Training:

Hernández joined the Dodgers when they completed a trade with the Oakland Athletics in December 2022. The utility man was acquired from A’s in exchange for cash considerations.

The 25-year-old only appeared in 14 games for the Dodgers, batting .136/.231/.182 with one double, four RBI and two walks during that time. Hernández was removed from their 40-man roster in September in order to call up Kolten Wong.

He had more success with Triple-A Oklahoma City, where Hernández hit .252/.395/.342 with 13 doubles, four home runs and 34 RBI over 95 games.

Although Hernández made a minimal impact at the plate during his stints up with the Dodgers, he was revered in the clubhouse for being a positive presence.

Yonny Hernández makes pitching debut

With the Dodgers on the wrong end of an eventual lopsided loss to the Kansas City Royals, Hernández was tasked with making his pitching debut in order to preserve the bullpen.

Hernández allowed just one hit as he completed a scoreless inning.
