On the very night the Diamondbacks celebrated their 25th anniversary, they shattered a demoralizing nine-game losing streak, securing their first official victory of the month of August.

Mirroring his exceptional performance during the last time he took on the Padres, Zac Gallen provided the spark that the Diamondbacks needed by tossing six shutout innings while allowing just four hits. Tonight, Gallen picked up his first win since July 7th, over a month ago.

Behind Gallen, the Diamondbacks bullpen was excellent.

Miguel Castro, Kevin Ginkel, and newly acquired closer Paul Sewald each pitched a solid inning, allowing just one hit in total.

On the offensive side, the Diamondbacks continued to leave plenty of men on base; however, three runs would be more than enough.

Arizona struck early with a double to right field by Tommy Pham in the first inning. This was then followed by a two-run home run off the bat of Christian Walker in the third.

Walker wrapped up the evening with three hits and was just a triple shy of completing the cycle.

While the offense remains a major concern, it must be gratifying for the Diamondbacks to finally shed the weight of a long losing streak.

A victory tomorrow would hand Arizona their first series win since July 19th. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM, Brandon Pfaadt will get the start for the Diamondbacks.
