Handing the Yankees their first loss of the season, Zac Gallen tossed a beautiful six inning shutout in front of the home crowd.

Gallen has started the season with a .82 ERA, as he previously tossed five innings allowing just one run against the Rockies on Opening Day.

Tonight, Gallen was so dominant that New York managed to only put one runner in scoring position, which came in the 2nd inning when Anthony Volpe and Oswaldo Cabrera connected for a pair of singles.

The Yankees were limited to a mere three hits for the entire game. Notably, the heart of their lineup—Juan Soto, Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and Giancarlo Stanton—went a combined 1 for 14, including five strikeouts.

As for the Diamondbacks, five different players had multi-hit games. The D-backs struck early with three runs in the 1st inning, giving Gallen some wiggle room on the mound.

In the middle of this 1st inning rally was the rookie Blaze Alexander, who drove in Ketel Marte to kickstart the scoring. Alexander finished with a 2/3 stat line at the plate, he has started the season with a .400 batting average.

Christian Walker later widened the gap in the 7th inning with a three-run homer, bringing home Ketel Marte and Blaze Alexander. Walker has already tallied three home runs this season.

The Diamondbacks will look to seal a series win against the Yankees tomorrow afternoon at 12:40. Merrill Kelly will take the mound for Arizona,
