Baseball for Aaron Judge's last HR this season could be worth over $1 million

Seconds after New York Yankees All-Star slugger Aaron Judge hit his 60th home run of the season during what became a comeback win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night, fans in attendance sprung into action to retrieve the baseball associated with Judge tying the mark reached by legend Babe Ruth in 1927.

20-year-old City College of New York student Michael Kessler ended up with the souvenir and returned it to Judge for a meet-and-greet and also some signed merchandise. It appears Kessler got quite the raw deal in that exchange.

According to TMZ Sports, David Kohler from SCP Auctions says that Judge's 60th home run baseball could've been worth $100-150K on the memorabilia market. Assuming Judge reaches 61 homers to tie the all-time American League single-season record set by Yankees icon Roger Maris in 1961, that ball could carry a value of around $200-250K.

A baseball linked with Judge's record-setting 62nd blast of the campaign could potentially sell for over $500K at auction, while his last home run of the regular season may fetch over $1 million when all is said and done.

TMZ notes that SCP has previously auctioned off some of history's most-famous home-run baseballs, including the one that all-time great Barry Bonds hit over a wall to pass Hank Aaron and become the new all-time career leader in homers in 2007. That ball sold for $752,467 but will forever be tainted in the eyes of many because it's connected to somebody who allegedly used performance-enhancing substances during his career.

In short, paying customers who obtain Judge home-run baseballs between Wednesday night and Oct. 5 would do well to treat such moments as business opportunities moving forward.
