The coronavirus outbreak that has left the St. Louis Cardinals idle since a July 29 loss to the Minnesota Twins and sent some individuals associated with the club to the emergency room will keep the team out of action through the midweek.
On Monday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com tweeted that the league postponed Thursday's scheduled doubleheader between the Cardinals and Detroit Tigers. An update on the Cardinals season will come later this week following additional testing and monitoring.
MLB announced that Thursday’s Cards-Tigers doubleheader in Detroit has been postponed. "MLB and the Club believe it is prudent to continue additional testing while players and staff are quarantined before the team returns to play." More on STL's resumption to come later this week

As The Athletic's Jayson Stark pointed out, the Cardinals have only played five fixtures since July 24, and there's no guarantee St. Louis will be able to start making games up on Friday.
Two more Cardinals games postponed.

This means that they’ll still have played just 5 games when they wake up Friday morning.
The Reds will have played 19.

Earlier in the day, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he remained hopeful the Cardinals could still conclude a legitimate season despite the cancellations.
“I think it’s possible for them to play enough games to be credible, to be a credible competitor in this season," he said.
Manfred added:
“I absolutely see a path back for the Cardinals. That is dependent on getting enough days with no positives that we’re comfortable with, that we don’t have a contagion risk. But, yes, 100 percent I see a path back.”
