The Arizona Diamondbacks were hit with yet another injury Thursday morning.

D-backs skipper Torey Lovullo confirmed ahead of Arizona’s matchup with the Colorado Rockies that right-handed pitcher Corbin Martin has been shut down due to a right forearm strain. He has been placed on the Triple-A Reno Aces’ seven-day injured list.

A timeline for the pitcher’s return to the diamond is unknown at this time.

“He’s just in a shut down phase, getting treatment. This is a special talent inside of this organization. We gotta be mindful of what he’s been through up to this point.

“The update is no baseball activity, just getting treatment, letting that arm get better and getting asymptomatic and then building him up from there.”

In five games (three starts) with the D-backs this season, Martin is 0-3 with a 10.69 ERA. He’s also sporting a 2.313 WHIP.

Martin has been hit with injuries since arriving to the D-backs organization as part of the Zack Greinke trade to Houston in 2019. Martin underwent Tommy John surgery in July 2019 only to suffer an oblique strain the following year.

The D-backs will look for their third straight win over the Rockies on Thursday afternoon. Tune to ESPN 620 AM at 12:40 p.m. for all the action.
