Desert storm brewing as Diamondbacks collide with rival Dodgers

The Diamondbacks are gearing up for a high-stakes four-game series against the star-studded Los Angeles Dodgers. This will be the first series of the season where Arizona will face off against one of its NL West divisional opponents.

Pitching matchups:

Brandon Pfaadt will look to put his last start behind him and focus on getting back on track. Pfaadt’s last outing against the Phillies was a horrendous one as he pitched 4.2 innings and gave up six earned runs on nine hits. His body of work this season has been more than decent. Before the start in Philadelphia, Pfaadt had five wins in a row. Coming into Thursday, Pfaadt has a 5-2 record with a 3.79 ERA.

The Dodgers will rely on Yoshinobu Yamamoto to continue his spectacular 2025 campaign, as he has a 4-2 record and boasts a 0.90 ERA, which leads the entire MLB. His splitter is still his most effective pitch, but he has been commanding his four-seam fastball incredibly well as of late.

Getting going:

Corbin Carroll is one of the spark plugs for this Diamondbacks ball club. In Wednesday’s game against the Mets, he went 2-for-2, including a massive home run to center field, and reached base four times as he was also walked twice. Carroll will need some help from their other stars as well, as the D-Backs look to fix one of their main problems of not being able to string hits together and leaving runners on base.

In what is a massive series for the Diamondbacks, they will look to take down Los Angeles Dodgers and change their luck as they have lost the last five of six series. First pitch tonight at Chase Field is at 6:40 p.m. PT.
