A fan favorite's return is near for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to The Athletic's Katie Woo, utility man Kiké Hernández is set to rejoin the Dodgers on Monday ahead of their series against the Colorado Rockies.

The 34-year-old's imminent return is a welcome sight for Los Angeles. Third baseman Max Muncy has not played since Friday, when he was hit by a pitch on his right wrist in the Dodgers' 5-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Although initial X-Rays came back negative, Muncy was out of Saturday's lineup and will not play Sunday as well. Santiago Espinal started in place of Muncy at third base Saturday and will likely do so again in Sunday's series finale.

Hernández has yet to play in 2026 after undergoing offseason left elbow surgery. He began the season on the 60-day injured list before starting a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on May 5.

In 12 rehab games, Hernández is slashing .214/.298/.310 with three RBIs. In his final rehab game last night, he went 0-for-4 at the plate.

Despite those struggles during his rehab assignment, Hernández's return should provide a boost for the Dodgers. In 2025, he slashed .203/.255/.366 with 10 home runs and 35 RBIs across 93 games. While those numbers were not eye-popping, he once again came through for Los Angeles in the postseason.

In 17 postseason games last season, Hernández hit .250 with one home run and seven RBIs. He also shined defensively, most notably with an improbable double play from the outfield that forced a Game 7.

In 103 career postseason games, Hernández owns an impressive .272/.339/.486 slash line with 16 home runs and 42 RBIs.

While the baseball calendar remains far from October, those numbers continue to prove Hernández's value to Los Angeles. For now, he will look to find his footing as he returns from injury.

The Dodgers hold a 32-20 record and currently lead the San Diego Padres by a half-game in the NL West. Los Angeles will look to clinch a series win over Milwaukee today at 2:10 ET behind fellow postseason hero Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
