Dodgers Send 1-Word Message Following Shohei Ohtani's Game-Winning Home Run
USA TODAY Sports

Shohei Ohtani continues to impress the baseball world on a nightly basis. Although Ohtani has set his own expectations at an almost unattainable level, he never ceases to amaze.

Ohtani has been everything the Los Angeles Dodgers hoped for when they signed him to a 10-year, $700 million contract ahead of the 2024 MLB season. In his first season with the team, the Dodgers won the World Series and Ohtani won the National League MVP award.

Ohtani continues to put on an offensive clinic in his sophomore-season with the Dodgers, one highlight reel at a time.

Friday night, Ohtani had a monster game, finishing 3-for-6 with four RBIs. And it was Ohtani's final at-bat that would prove the difference, in an 11-11 game in the top of ninth inning. Ohtani stepped to the plate with two runners on base, turning on a breaking ball on a 1-2 count, sending what would turn out to be the game-winning home run, 426 feet into the right field stands.

The Dodgers would go on to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 14-11 behind Ohtani's deep blast and would immediately send a one-word message to their superstar.

"CINEMA." the Dodgers posted to their official X account alongside a slow-motion video of Ohtani's home run.

Ohtani is now tied for the league lead with 12 home runs. He's batting .304 to go along with 20 RBIs and 10 stolen bases. The only other player in Major League Baseball with double-digit home runs and steals is the Chicago Cubs, Kyle Tucker (10 and 10).

Ohtani and the Dodgers are also tied for the best record in MLB (26-13), owning the best record in the NL. The Dodgers also hold the best record at home in all of MLB at 15-3.

Ohtani's next turn at greatness comes on Saturday when they take on the Diamondbacks in Game 3 of a four-game series.
