Marlins Star Jazz Chisholm Jr. Named MLB The Show 23 Cover Athlete
Sam Navarro-USA TODAY Sports

San Diego Studio officially revealed their next cover athlete for MLB The Show 23, and this year the honor went to Miami Marlins star Jazz Chisholm Jr.

In the announcement, the studio said Chisholm’s electric personality, play and love for all things baseball made him a great choice to be on the cover of MLB The Show 23.

Chisholm grew up in Nassau, Bahamas, playing sandlot baseball with friends with “no umpires, no catchers, just hitting bombs and having fun we just played to play.” He is the first player from the Bahamas to be selected as a cover athlete for the game.

MLB The Show 23 launches on March 28, 2023, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The standard edition for last-generation consoles (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch) is $59.99, while the standard edition for current-generation consoles (PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X) costs $69.99.

Pre-orders open for the MLB The Show open Monday, February 6.

San Diego Studio will announce new features of the game over the coming weeks live on their Twitch and YouTube channels. There are several Feature Premiere episodes in the works, which will be announced on TheShow.com and their social channels for episode schedules and information.

MLB The Show 23 Collector’s Edition to be revealed

The Collector’s Edition of MLB The Show 23, including all its content, will be revealed on Thursday.

MLB The Show has sometimes opted to use a different cover athlete for its Collector’s Editions compared to its standard edition, which is a trend other sports video games have done as well. For MLB The Show 21, San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. was on the standard cover, while Los Angeles Dodgers legend Jackie Robinson was used for the special editions of the game.

Last year, Los Angeles Angels two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani was the cover athlete for both the standard and collector’s versions of the game.

Gamers who purchase the Collector’s Edition of MLB The Show 23 will also receive dual entitlement of the game, meaning they will receive versions for both the previous generation and current generation consoles. If only the Standard Edition is purchased and the player upgrades to the newer generation console, the cost to upgrade the game will be $10 if the digital edition is purchased.
