Mike Trout, Andrew Luck engage in awkward dance-off in new commercial
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Mike Trout and Andrew Luck may be among the biggest and most talented stars in pro sports, but their respective skills on the diamond and gridiron, respectively, definitely do not translate to the dance floor.

In a spot for a new sports drink from BODYARMOR, the Los Angeles Angels slugger and Indianapolis Colts signal-caller meet up on a dance floor straight out of “Saturday Night Fever” to get down and get funky in an awkward dance-off, during which “The Robot,” among other outdated moves, are employed by the superstars.

Prepare for the “Disco Battle.”

Trout, fresh off signing a record-breaking, 12-year, $430 million extension, has been criticized in the past, including by MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, for not making a more concerted effort to build his brand and promote himself. This hilarious turn certainly celebrates the quirkier side of arguably the best player in baseball.

Luck, meanwhile, is coming off a terrific bounce-back season after injuries kept him out of the entire 2017 season. Unlike Trout, Luck tends to highlight his oddball persona — including freely admitting to his nerd-ish qualities — and was made cameo appearances in two episodes of the woefully underrated “Parks and Recreation.”

Regardless of their seemingly different personality styles, both Luck and Trout shine in this new commercial, despite their hilariously suspect dance skills.
