Phillies' Kyle Schwarber Reveals Thoughts on Career Growth

Kyle Schwarber has changed a lot during his time in Philadelphia.

After originally joining the team as an all-or-nothing type hitter - and then smashing 93 home runs in two seasons, at the cost of a low batting average - Schwarber reinvented himself last year, becoming a more well-rounded batter in the leadoff spot.

Now in 2025, he's seemingly put the best of both worlds together, combining remarkable plate discipline with the fastest power outburst of his career.

After Monday's game, Tim Kelly of OnPattison asked Kyle about what's sparked his recent success in Philly.

"The biggest thing is feeling like you're trying to make adjustments," Schwarber said. "There's always different things you're going to feel throughout a week, a month, whatever it is, and you're going to want to correct it. I guess I spotted it a little bit early."

Schwarber already has 14 home runs and 32 RBI, putting him on pace for career-highs of 55 and 126. His OPS sits at .985 as his walks (29) nearly match his strikeouts (37). His Baseball Savant page is littered with rankings at or near the top of MLB.

Oh, and he's reached base in every game so far, a streak that reaches back six more into last season.

It may have something to do with sliding behind two-time MVP Bryce Harper in the lineup, but that lone detail doesn't excuse this incredible start.

As for Schwarber, he boils it down to preparing the right way.

"The cage is where the work is done," Schwarber said. "When you head out to the game, you just go out and compete, and you take what you have that day."

It may not be realistic for Schwarber to keep up this level of production all season. Yet if he does, then he should have no issue landing a huge contract this offseason - either in Philly or elsewhere.
