Red Sox Make Huge Alex Bregman Injury Update Ahead of Game vs. Rays

The Boston Red Sox have been staying competitive in the AL East division while riding a seven-game win streak heading into Friday's matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The Red Sox's recent surge has kept them within striking distance in both the AL East and the AL Wild Card race. While the Toronto Blue Jays have grown a convincing league in the division, the Yankees, Rays, and Red Sox currently occupy the three Wild Card spots.

Boston will look to stay hot, and they will finally be accompanied by All-Star third baseman Alex Bregman moving forward.

After rehabbing a quad strain he sustained on May 23, it's been announced that the Red Sox activated Bregman from the injured list on Friday.

In the move, Bregman replaced second baseman David Hamilton on the Red Sox's 40-man roster.

Despite missing the Red Sox's last 43 games, Bregman was selected as a 2025 AL All-Star but because of his injury, he was replaced by Tampa Bay Rays standout Junior Caminero.

Bregman's in his first year with the Red Sox after he agreed to a three-year, $120 million contract with the team.

He played his first nine seasons in the majors with the Houston Astros, winning two World Series in 2017 and 2022, and earning two All-Star bids in 2018 and 2019, a Gold Glove Award in 2024, and a Silver Slugger Award in 2019.

Bregman's been a huge contributor to the Red Sox when staying healthy, and through 51 games this season, he has a .299 batting average, .385 on-base percentage, .938 OPS, and has hit 11 home runs and 35 RBI.

The third baseman will be implemented into the Red Sox's lineup on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays and will bat second while Boston goes for their eighth straight win.
