Report: Yankees, Mets to resume spring training in Florida

New York is one of the hardest-hit states by the coronavirus pandemic, and it seems that no professional baseball will be held there for a while. However, the New York Yankees and Mets have another idea in place on how they can resume training outside of the state.

According to MLB Network's Jon Heyman, the Yankees and Mets will be returning to Florida to resume spring training while the state continues its reopening plan. The Yankees would return to their facility in Tampa while the Mets would head to St. Lucie.

Florida governor Ron DeSantis invited teams to resume not only training in the state, but their seasons as well. Florida's coronavirus numbers continue to decrease, so the Yankees and Mets returning to their spring training facilities is a good sign that we may just get a season after all.

However, while Walt Disney World is reportedly the front-runner to host the NBA in a return to action, Major League Baseball and the players association have yet to strike a deal as safety concerns and pay disputes continue to rise.

On top of sports, Universal Orlando has plans to open in a limited capacity on June 5 while Disney World is expected to submit a reopening plan next week.
