Rich Hill has important take on hidden consequences of Astros scandal
Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports

Much has been made of the consequences of the Houston Astros cheating scandal, particularly when it comes to the Los Angeles Dodgers. They lost the 2017 World Series to the Astros in seven games, and many have argued they might have won that series if not for what the Astros were doing illegally.

While the players have received a lot of attention, former Dodgers pitcher Rich Hill reminded everyone that there were plenty of other people associated with that team who will never get their due.

This is an important point. Behind-the-scenes people are often overlooked in sports, but they’re vital to making the operation run smoothly. A good number of these people likely missed out on financial bonuses that would have come from winning a championship. Those bonuses would have made a much bigger difference to these people as opposed to players who are making millions either way. When you think of it that way, it’s no wonder that a lot of teams felt like the Astros got off easily as a result of what happened.
