Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black delivered bad news on Wednesday when he announced that right-handed pitcher Jon Gray is likely done for the season due to shoulder inflammation in his throwing arm.
Per David Adler of the club's official website, the 28-year-old starter went on the injured list on Sept. 4 after he surrendered seven earned runs versus the San Francisco Giants on Sept. 1. Gray made eight starts for Colorado this summer and holds a 2-4 record with a 6.69 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts across 39 innings of work.
It's believed Gray won't be available to start or come out of the bullpen if the Rockies qualify for the postseason. Colorado began Wednesday with a 22-25 record and one game behind San Francisco for the final National League playoff berth.
