Watch: Guardians' Josh Naylor hits game-tying grand slam in ninth inning vs. White Sox

The Cleveland Guardians trailed 8-2 at the start of the ninth inning against the Chicago White Sox, but stayed alive with six runs. Four of those came when Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor blasted a game-tying grand slam with two outs.

Naylor, 24, was the second batter faced by White Sox closer Liam Hendriks. After the Guardians' Owen Miller singled to load the bases, Naylor drilled the first pitch he saw over the center field wall.

The six-run inning for the Guardians started with shortstop Andrés Giménez hitting a solo home run. Chicago then committed back-to-back errors that led to Amed Rosario rounding the bases for another run.

The White Sox had a chance to win it in the bottom of the ninth after Guardians reliever Nick Sandlin walked three to load the bases, but Cleveland survived to force extra innings.

Naylor hit seven home runs last season and now has three this year. Earlier Monday, he hit a double in the fifth inning that drove in Steven Kwan.
