The Los Angeles Dodgers have been playing well of late, recently picking up an 11-3 road win over the Milwaukee Brewers to push their record to 32-20. The Dodgers currently have the best record in the NL West, a half-game above the San Diego Padres, despite several key injuries among their pitching staff.
One of the few healthy arms in the rotation is superstar Shohei Ohtani, and recently, fans wondering when they would next see him on the mound got their answer.
“Shohei Ohtani will make his next pitching start on Wednesday, backed up against team off day on Thursday,” reported Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register/Southern California Newspaper Group on X, formerly Twitter.
Ohtani has been excellent when he’s been on the mound this year, although the team has been trying to keep him out of the hitting order on nights when he pitches, so it remains unclear if that trend will continue on Wednesday.
Wednesday’s start will take place against the lowly Colorado Rockies, who currently have the worst record in baseball, and as Plunkett mentioned, the Dodgers will have the day off the following day.
It remains to be seen whether the Dodgers will look to add another starting pitcher to the rotation via a trade considering the amount of injuries the team is currently dealing with, both among the starters and in the bullpen. Los Angeles has been floated as a potential landing spot for Detroit Tigers star Tarik Skubal, a trade that would likely cause a firestorm across the baseball world if it came to pass.
For now, the Dodgers will gear up for their series finale against the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday afternoon on the road.
