On Thursday, the Chicago White Sox announced that left-handed pitcher Dallas Keuchel has been added to the injured list retroactive to Monday due to back spasms.
As noted by the Associated Press (h/t ESPN), the 32-year-old exited Sunday's game against the Kansas City Royals with lower back stiffness after five innings of work. Keuchel pitched only five innings over his last two starts before going on IL.
The White Sox added righty Reynaldo Lopez to the big league squad in a corresponding roster move. It's believed Lopez will temporarily replace Keuchel in Chicago's rotation.
This summer, Keuchel holds a 6-2 record and is second in the American League among eligible pitchers in ERA (2.19), tied for second in wins, eighth in WHIP (1.05) and fourth in wins above replacement (1.7).
