The New York Yankees are the biggest contender for a postseason berth in the American League despite their recent slump. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Phillies are restoring their playoff credentials with their ongoing hot run. Drake Fellows holds the distinction of signing a deal with both organizations over the past six months.
On Thursday, the Philadelphia Phillies completed a minor league deal with right-handed pitcher Drake Fellows, as per Tom Housenick of The Morning Call. The 28-year-old spent the offseason with the New York Yankees after signing a deal with the team in December. However, he did not pitch at all for the Yankees until the Phillies moved him to the Triple-A roster.
“Today’s IronPigs roster move: RHP Drake Fellows, signed by Phillies, added to Triple-A roster. Fellows, 28, has not pitched this year. Was 2019 6th-round pick of the Padres,” Housenick posted on X.

Fellows was a sixth-round pick for the San Diego Padres at the 2019 MLB Draft out of Vanderbilt University. He did not get to make his professional debut with the franchise, however, as the 2020 minor league season was canceled due to COVID-19.
The San Diego Padres traded Drake Fellows to the Pittsburgh Pirates ahead of the 2021 season. He then missed the entire 2022 campaign due to Tommy John surgery. Fellows returned to action at the back end of the 2023 campaign.
In 2024, Fellows moved up from High-A Greensboro Grasshoppers to Double-A Altoona Curve before ending the year with Triple-A Indianapolis Indians. He returned to Indianapolis again last season, pitching 112.1 innings over 33 appearances with a 4.41 ERA and 94 strikeouts.
Drake Fellows opted for free agency at the end of the 2025 campaign. He is yet to make his MLB debut.
