Tom Horak-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Yankees recalled reliever Clay Holmes from the 15-day injured list before Monday night's game against the host Los Angeles Angels.

The team optioned right-hander Luke Bard to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following his team debut Sunday to make room on the active roster.

The Yankees also placed infielder/outfielder Marwin Gonzalez on the paternity list and recalled outfielder Tim Locastro from Triple-A.

Holmes, 29, landed on the IL on Aug. 17 with back spasms. The right-hander earned his first All-Star selection this season and is 5-3 with a 2.39 ERA and 17 saves in 49 appearances.

Bard, 31, pitched a scoreless inning of relief in New York's 4-1 loss Sunday at Oakland. He was claimed off waivers from Tampa Bay on Aug. 5 after going 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA in eight relief appearances for the Rays.

Gonzalez, 33, is batting .200 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 65 games this season.

Locastro, 30, is hitting .176 with two homers and four RBIs in 26 games for New York. He batted .240 with three homers and 18 RBIs in 47 games at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
