UFC light heavyweight champion has provided the fans with some receipts after having recently been accused of turning down a fight with a fellow contender previously.
Earlier this month, the promotion’s biggest active star Alex Pereira reclaimed his light heavyweight title when he knocked Magomed Ankalaev out in their UFC 320 rematch.
Following his blockbuster win, ‘Poatan’ shocked the UFC fanbase when he called for a heavyweight super fight against Jon Jones, targeting the clash for the UFC White House event.
Despite the Brazilian riding another high, UFC welterweight contender Joaquin Buckley bizarrely decided to come out and attempt to throw shade on Pereira’s name.
Earlier this week, ‘New Mansa’ released a video on his YouTube channel, detailing the UFC’s plan to match him and Pereira up in 2022.
After making his debut just a year prior, Pereira was rapidly rising up the middleweight ranks, knocking out everyone put in front of him.
Despite the Brazilian’s terrifying run, Buckley claimed that he was more than willing to fight him and was planning on becoming the first fighter to knock him out. However, ‘New Mansa’ claimed that he was told Pereira wouldn’t be ready in time.
Since then, though, the UFC light heavyweight champion has come out online, countering Buckley’s claim, even sharing a private message he sent to the American fighter in 2022.
“Why did you send me this post? Of the 15 that ran you were the first! Now go back to the end of the line,” Pereira told him.

Unfortunately for the UFC fanbase, the fight never happened as it would’ve likely been an electrifying matchup, however, the two fighters went on very different trajectories.
Buckley was on an extremely impressive six fight win streak before coming unstuck against Kamaru Usman earlier this year.
With ‘Poatan’ looking at moving up to heavyweight for what Joe Rogan has labeled as the ‘biggest fight in human history’, it has left the 205lb contenders not knowing what the future may hold.
One of which being Jiri Prochazka, who is hoping for a trilogy fight against ‘Poatan’ after recent back-to-back wins.
And with Pereira potentially having his eyes set elsewhere, Prochazka has sent him a message as he continues to campaign for a clash.
