In the UFC, numerous heavyweights made the division strong. From Jon Jones to Daniel Cormier, the division is forged with legendary talent. However, one talent can make a name for himself and put him with these legends: Ciryl Gane.

“Bon Gamin” (12-2) is a brilliant striker, averaging 5.49 significant strikes per minute. What’s more, he lands 60% of those strikes, making him a tough opponent. The former Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion can finish his opponents with a heavy hand, giving him the victory early in the match.

But does he have a shot at another heavyweight title? What’s significant about the fighter that makes him stand out? Let’s look at the French fighter and whether he’ll be a future champion.

A Look at Ciryl Gane’s Accomplishments

Aside from being the Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion, Gane has also defeated noteworthy fighters in the promotion. That list includes Junior dos Santos, Alexander Volkov, and Derrick Lewis.

The French fighter is also a Muay Thai specialist, earning the AFMT National Title at +91 kg. He had one successful title defense before conceding the title. With that Lewis fight at UFC 265, he’s also earned “Performance of the Night,” a distinction he’d earn two more times.

He was also the winner of “Fight of the Night” with Tai Tuivasa at UFC Fight Night 209. “Bon Gamin” is a terrific performer, capable of stealing the show with his potent strikes. It’s no wonder he’s risen up the rankings, going as high as #2 in the heavyweight division.

Will Ciryl Gane Get Another Title Shot?

One thing Ciryl Gane must work on is his grappling defense. In his fight against Francis Ngannou (17-3) at UFC 270, “Bon Gamin” controlled the first two rounds, leaving Ngannou off-balance. But Ngannou switched to a wrestling style on Gane, wearing him down later in the match. As a result, he lost via unanimous decision.

Against Jon Jones (27-1) at UFC 285, Gane lost in the first round via guillotine choke submission. If Gane can defend against grapples and takedowns better, he can become the UFC Heavyweight Champion for good. It’s good that he sits at #2 in the division because he’s rapidly rising in the rankings.
