Alex Perez replaces Cody Garbrandt for UFC title fight vs. Deiveson Figueiredo

Per Ariel Helwani of ESPN, Cody Garbrandt has withdrawn from his scheduled UFC flyweight title fight versus champion Deiveson Figueiredo due to a torn biceps. Instead, Alex Perez will compete for the strap at the UFC 255 show held on Nov. 21.

Figueiredo (19-1-0) hasn't competed in the octagon since he defeated Joseph Benavidez to win the vacant flyweight belt in July. Perez (24-5-0), meanwhile, downed Jussier Formiga in June for his third consecutive win.

Garbrandt (12-3-0) beat Raphael Assuncao in June to erase what had been a three-fight losing streak. It's unknown how long Garbrandt, who was to make his flyweight debut in November, will be sidelined, but he vowed to win the title next year.
