Amanda Nunes to defend bantamweight title vs. Julianna Pena at UFC 265

The G.O.A.T. will be back this summer.

UFC president Dana White has told ESPN's Brett Okamoto that two-division champion Amanda Nunes (21-4-0) will defend her bantamweight title against Julianna Pena (11-4-0) at the UFC 265 pay-per-view this August. There's no official date, venue or city for the show, but Okamoto wrote the UFC is targeting Aug. 7.

UFC 264 will be headlined by the third fight between former two-division champion Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 10.

Nunes is widely viewed as the greatest woman to ever compete in professional mixed martial arts and hasn't lost since September 2014. Back in March, she dominated an overwhelmed Megan Anderson en route to earning a submission victory in 123 seconds. Anderson said after the fight that she and the UFC had parted ways.

Pena, meanwhile, improved to 6-2 in the promotion with a win over Sara McMann at UFC 257, headlined by the second McGregor-Poirier bout, in January. The 31-year-old is currently sixth in the official UFC rankings in the division.

"I'm excited, pumped and ready to go," Pena told ESPN about fighting the best in the world. "This opportunity at a UFC title is what I've wanted in this sport all along."
