“I’m too dangerous, man. Simple. I’m too risky for these guys. Who knows, one day maybe when the shoe’s on the other foot, and I’m on the back end of my career, I get put in a situation like that, I’ll do the same thing. I’m not blaming anybody.

“I want to say how much respect I have for both guys. These guys are friggin’ heroes of mine. That is part of the reason that I would love to get the opportunity to fight them. But if it’s not happening, it’s not happening. And the crying’s over,” Aspinall said 

Aspinall has been linked with fighting two-weight world champion Alex Pereira at UFC 300 in the headline event. That would require Pereira to move up from light heavyweight after beating Jiri Prochazka to win the vacant title. But the Brit has not heard anything about the fight, leaving that out of the equation. 

“On my end, I’ve heard nothing so far. As I’ve said plenty of times before, I’m not one to turn down fights. I’m not particularly looking for that fight [against Alex Pereira], but if it’s available and they offer it to me, I will take it. I’m ready to fight,” Aspinall stated

Despite this, there is still a possibility that Aspinall gets the Jones fight. Outside of Miocic, Aspinall is Jones’ biggest threat. Miocic is 41, so Jones will go in as a favorite against his fellow American. If Jones were to come through with a win, there would be an immense amount of pressure on him to fight Aspinall. Outside of that, retirement could be an option. Reports did indicate that the winner of the Jones-Miocic fight could retire. But Bones has not ruled out the Aspinall fight just yet. 

“But the Tom fight is definitely not off the table. Especially with how I’ve been feeling being out here. I feel just totally reinvigorated and just re-energized just being around all these fans. So, I can’t just walk away. So, the ball is rolling in a really positive direction for me to continue my career,” Jones added
