Bayley had to do some quick planning to get to SummerSlam.

During her appearance on Ariel Helwani Meets… for BT Sport, Bayley spoke about how quickly her return at SummerSlam 2022 came together. Bayley had been sidelined for more than a year due to an ACL injury, but she ended up coming back at SummerSlam alongside Dakota Kai and Io Shirai (now Iyo Sky).

The Damage CTRL leader told Helwani that she had this idea for a stable in her head for some time, but a conversation with Triple H caused it to be accelerated. Helwani asked about talk that she only found out she’d be returning 24 hours prior, and she confirmed that was the case.

“[I was] sitting at home on my couch [when I found out I would be returning]. So I had talked to Hunter the day before, he texted me the next day and he’s like — oh no, I wake up to a missed call from him. So then I called him back because I’m on the west coast, so it’s not because I sleep in super-late. [laughs] He just tells me what had happened overnight and also [asked] ‘Can you be at SummerSlam this weekend?’ I’m like, ‘You mean tomorrow?’ And he said ‘Oh yeah, yeah.’ I said of course and then I freaked out, I’m dripping sweat,” Bayley explained.

“So after we had talked, he had contacted Dakota, he had contacted Iyo and I guess talked to creative and they figured this whole thing out. That was it,” she noted. “He ran it by me and [asked] if this is cool. [I said] yeah! This is exactly — I couldn’t believe it. I owe so much to him for believing in me and us. In a short amount of time, I sent him one text with a couple videos and pictures and he was all over it. I owe him everything for this run right now.”
