Deiveson Figueiredo took Cody Garbrandt down at UFC 300 and finished him this past weekend.

But the battle of former UFC champions was not the only fight for Garbrandt.

Now a few days removed from the loss, “No Love” has taken to social media to explain his situation. It appears he was dealing with vertigo in the moments leading up to the encounter.

Garbrandt revealed that he has had vertigo since 2012 and was “throwing up until 4 a.m.”

“I felt great in my fight until I started to experience vertigo,” Garbrandt said. “I couldn’t control the spinning once it was to the ground. Hats off to Deiveson and his camp!

“I ended up going to the hospital where I was still experiencing vertigo. I’ll get this corrected.

“Thank you to the fans that came out to support. It wasn’t my night.”

Garbrandt, who had won two fights in a row before the loss, vowed to return soon.

“I’ll be back in there before the year is up,” he said. “I love doing what I do.”

Cody Garbrandt On Outside Looking In

After winning his first 11 fights, Garbrandt is just 3-6 since 2017. The slide started with a pair of losses to T.J. Dillashaw over the bantamweight title.

The 32-year-old downed Trevin Jones in his return to the division last year. He followed that up with a win over Brian Kelleher before losing to Figueiredo.

Back in 2016, Garbrandt topped Dominick Cruz for the title. He also owns wins over Thomas Almeida, Takeya Mizugaki and Marcus Brimage.
