UFC veteran Frankie Edgar has been handed a two-month medical suspension following his devastating knockout against Cory Sandhagen.

Edgar, 39 and Sandhagen, 28, faced-off during the UFC’s most recent Fight Night in the card’s co-main event.

The mouth-watering match-up which took place at in the bantamweight division lasted less than 30-seconds.

Despite being a seasoned veteran of the fight-game, Edgar was knocked into next week after the rangey Sandhagen perfectly executed an absolutely gut-wrenching flying knee.

The bout, which has serious title implications in the 135lb division, was called at exactly 28-seconds of the very first-round.

In what was a simply stunning knockout, of course, immediate concerns were with ‘The Answer’ who appeared to be motionless on impact.

Following the shocking loss, the Nevada Athletic State Commission have issued the 39-year-old with a two-month medical suspension.

The suspension which has been reported by Insider states that Edgar will not be permitted to compete for eight weeks and will not be allowed to spar until March 24, at the earliest.

In light of the NASC’s recent medical confirmations, another fighter who is set for the sidelines is main-event star Alistair Overeem, who has been ruled out for six-months following his loss to Alexander Volkov.
